The Year 1 Phase 5a pack teaches your child new ways to write the sounds they learnt during Phase 3 e.g. ow in down (Phase 3) and ou in sound (Phase 5).  
 
These printable flashcards include two copies of each grapheme. The second copy has sound lines to help your child recognise that both letters are working together to make one sound e.g. ea. This is called a digraph.
 
These new graphemes sound the same as some of the sounds taught during Phases 2 and 3 but look different. The sound your child already knows is written in the top corner to help your child learn the new grapheme.
