Make reading fun with these decodable Would You Rather questions. This printable contains 24 questions so you could read one each day in December during the run-up to Christmas or read a few at a time.
Each question is colour-coded to help you see which words your child might be able to read by themselves and which words they might need support with. The words are written in navy blue with the digraphs/trigraphs written in colours to match the phase as shown below.
Reception:
Orange = Phase 2 - covered during the first term
Green = Phase 3 - generally covered during the second term
Pink = Phase 4 - generally covered during the last term
Year 1:
Coral = Phase 5a - covered during the first term
Blue = Phase 5b - covered during the second term
A dot shows a single letter making one sound and a line underneath the letters shows 2/3 letters are working together to make one sound e.g. ay. A split digraph is joined using a curved line.
A navy dot or line indicates that your child won’t have learnt this sound yet and may need support.
Tricky words - these are words which break the rules or contain a sound your child hasn’t yet been taught when they learn the tricky word. The whole tricky word is coloured to show which phase it is taught in and has heart to show which part is tricky.
