Arrange magnetic tiles on a baking tray to create a maze.
Place a tricky word or sound flashcard in the maze. Read the word and see if they wobble the baking tray to move the ball through the maze. Can they get the ball to the flashcard?
You could place more than one word/sound in the maze and see if they can get the ball to the correct card.
If you don’t have magnetic tiles you could create a Lego/Duplo maze or use playdough to create the walls instead.
Blending:
Place 3 sound cards in the maze and get your child to say the sounds as the ball rolls over them, then blend them to make a word. They need to go over the words in the correct order to make a real word.
Segmenting:
Place sound cards in the maze. Say a word and ask your child to sound it out. Can they roll the ball over the sounds in the correct order to spell the word?
